Windows XP is set by default to automatically download and install Microsoft’s most recent web browser, Internet Explorer 7 (IE7). If you find IE7 unnecessary and/or annoying, you can uninstall it and Windows will replace it with your previous version of IE (6).

To uninstall IE7:

1. Go to Start => Control Panel
   
2. Go to Add or Remove Programs. It may take several seconds for the selections to load.
   
3. Select Windows Internet Explorer 7 from the list.
   
4. Click the Remove button on the right side of the selection.

The uninstall process may take several minutes and may require you to restart your computer.
