Spy Sweeper has a new feature implemented into the 5.0 version, called the Self-Protect Shield. This prevents Spy Sweeper from being shut down entirely, to block attempts from hijackers, or other spyware attempting to disable your anti-spyware protection. An option needs to be modified for you to be able to close Spy Sweeper via the Windows Task Manager.

  1. Open the Spy Sweeper window and click the Home button.
  2. Place the mouse cursor on the large, black and white Spy Sweeper icon just to the right of the home button. Hold the Ctrl and Alt keys down on the keyboard at the same time and double-click on the Spy Sweeper icon.
  3. Next, click the button, ‘Turn SPS Off.’ After doing so, the button should read ‘Turn SPS On.’
