In Moodle how do I add participants to a site?
To clarify the question, assuming this is not a class or site with an automatic roster data feed from the Registrar, how do you add someone to the site?
Adding Instructors to a site
Note: You must have the role of Administrator or Course Creator for the site (or on the CCLE system sitewide) to be able to add an instructor to a site
- Log into site with Administrator or Course Creator role
- Administration
- Assign Roles
- Under the Roles column, click “Instructor”
- Type the person’s name in the Search box under “Potential users” to find the account, then click on the left arrow button to add that person as an Instructor for the class
Adding Students to a site
Note: This can be done with other roles as well, though you can only add roles lower than your own.

- Assign Roles
- Under the Roles column, click “Student”
- Type the person’s name in the Search box under “Potential users” to find the account, then click on the left arrow button to add that person as a Student (or whatever role) for the class
