Instructions for Upgrading Existing Course to New UI (CCLE)
The following are step-by-step instructions for converting existing CCLE
course websites to the new CCLE UI (as of 6/15/2010).
- Log in to CCLE.
- Go to the CCLE site to be converted.
- Click “Turn editing On” in the upper right corner.
- Find the “Blocks” block (usually at the bottom of the right column on
most existing CCLE sites) and add the “Course Menu” block. - Click the edit icon (hand) in Topic 0 just below the course
description in the center of the page. (This will take you to the “Summary
of UCLA Private Topic 0” page.) - In the “Summary” field, click on the < > button and convert the contents
to text mode. - Highlight the text in the “Summary” field and copy it. (You may want to
paste it to a NotePad or separate document.) - Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page. (Or, you can click the
browser ³back² button since you¹ve changed nothing on the site.) - In the “Administration” block, click on “Settings”.
- In the “General” sub-section, change the “Format” drop down menu to
“CCLE Course”. - Also in the “General” sub-section, change the “Force Theme” drop down
menu to “cclecourse”. - Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.
(The CCLE course site should appear in the new UI. The “Course Menu” block
should appear in the upper-left corner.)
- Click the red “Edit Course Description” link at the top of the center
of the course page. (Or, click on “Settings” in the “Administration” block
as both links go to the same place.) - In the “Summary” field (within the “General” sub-section) click on the <
> button and convert the contents to text mode. - Paste the previously copied text (from step 7 above) somewhere into the
“Summary” field. - Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.
(Finally, you will have to manually clean up each of the headers on the
course page. For the title of each section on the course page.)
- Click the red “Edit Title” link to the right of each section title.
- Highlight and delete the contents in the “Summary” field (which should
be a duplicate of the new “Section Title” field at the top of the page). - Click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.
(Repeat the above three steps for each Section Title.)
