shrinking text

This web design tip I just read is ingenious and priceless, if we can just get our clients to accept the condensed versions.

Speaking generally, Steve Krug's Third Law of Usability states:

"Get rid of half the words on each page, then get rid of half of what's
left." (Don't Make Me Think, page 45)

Here's a neat trick: copy the text from a "blah-blah" page and paste it
into Word. Then, run Tools > AutoSummarize (at least that's what it's
called in Word 2004 for Mac). Set it to reduce it to 25% of the original.
I tried this with a couple of pages and was surprised at how well it
worked. If we could just build this into the CMS...
