Brief Summary
The concept of sustainability has been gaining momentum on university campuses and society at large. This is largely due to the constant signs that the Earths natural resources are limited and our planets ability to compensate for the growing human waste stream is insufficient.
Sustainable development can be defined as development that maintains a healthy planet and allows the present generation to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. UCLA has been striving towards a sustainable campus though greening efforts that include operational changes, programs that address behaviors of the UCLA community, and academic programs and research. Now is your turn as part of the UCLA Staff or Faculty community. Using the resources and information found within this virtual handbook, you can begin to transition to a more sustainable lifestyle on campus (as well as off campus).
